A Uniquely Designed Scenic Route 

This 90-minute non-stop cruise departs directly from the Bruce Anchor dock located at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula. The vessel enters Big Tub Harbour, passing the lighthouse at Big Tub Point, a popular photo opportunity marking the entrance to one of Tobermory’s most sheltered and historic waterways.

Glass-Bottom Views of Historic Shipwreck

From here, the cruise proceeds toward the head of the harbour, where guests enjoy close-up views of two nineteenth-century shipwrecks resting in shallow, crystal-clear water:

  • The Sweepstakes (sank in 1885) 
  • The City of Grand Rapids (sank in 1907)

The Sweepstakes is visible through the glass-bottom viewing panels, and both wrecks are visible directly from the side of the vessel. 

A highlight of this shipwreck cruise in Tobermory is the opportunity to view the remarkably well-preserved Sweepstakes, an eerie beauty, and the remains of the City of Grand Rapids, without leaving the boat. An Extended Scenic Route

After leaving Big Tub Harbour, the Non-Stop Scenic Cruise continues along an extended route not typically seen on other tours. The vessel travels through the Otter Island Channel, follows the coastline of Cove Island, and crosses past Echo Island, offering stunning views of Georgian Bay and the rugged shoreline.

This portion of the cruise highlights the natural geography of the Bruce Peninsula, with limestone cliffs, forested islands, and changing water colours that shift with depth and sunlight. 

Flowerpot Island Views From the Water

As the cruise approaches Flowerpot Island, guests enjoy views of the island’s north side, including the lightstation, former lightkeeper’s home, and surrounding facilities. The vessel then passes the famous flowerpot rock formations.
