Frequently Asked Questions
Bruce Anchor Cruises offers several cruise options designed to match different travel styles and interests. Guests can choose between Drop-Off Tours that allow time on Flowerpot Island, Scenic Stay-Aboard Cruises that remain on board for the full journey, and specialty options like Non-Stop Scenic Cruises that follow extended sightseeing routes. This flexibility allows visitors to choose the experience that best fits their schedule and preferences.
All Bruce Anchor cruises include views of Flowerpot Island, but not all cruises involve disembarking. Drop-Off Tours allow guests to step ashore and explore the island. Flowerpot Island is part of Fathom Five National Marine Park, and guests who disembark are required to purchase a Parks Canada pass during booking. Book between June 19th and September 7th, 2026, and take advantage of the free Canada Strong Pass, offered by Parks Canada.
Bruce Anchor Cruises visits two shipwrecks: the Sweepstakes and the City of Grand Rapids, both located in Big Tub Harbour. These historic vessels rest in shallow, crystal-clear water. The Sweepstakes is visible through the viewing panels on our glass-bottom boats, and both the Sweepstakes and the remains of the City of Grand Rapids can be seen by overlooking the sides of the vessel.
Families with young children, seniors, and guests looking for a relaxed experience often prefer Scenic Stay-Aboard Cruises. Guests who want more adventure and time outdoors may enjoy Drop-Off Tours, provided they are comfortable walking on uneven terrain once on Flowerpot Island.
Most tours last about 90 minutes round-trip, not including boarding and disembarking time. Drop-Off Tours provide additional time spent on Flowerpot Island. More information on schedules and durations is available during the booking process.
Advance booking is strongly recommended on Saturdays and Sundays during peak season.
Many sailings sell out in advance due to limited capacity and high demand. Guests can reserve their preferred cruise and departure time by visiting the Book a Cruise page. Be sure to check out our Promotions page for helpful tips and substantial discounts on tours!
Whether disembarking or staying aboard, all guests should bring comfortable footwear, water and snacks (not available for purchase on the boat or the island), a camera, sunglasses, as well as weather-appropriate clothing, as conditions on the water can change. If you plan to hike, sturdy shoes are recommended.
Safety is always the top priority. Cruises may be cancelled due to high winds, storms, or other conditions. In the event of a weather-related cancellation, pre-purchased tickets will be refunded or modified. Full details are available on the Terms and Conditions page.
Bruce Anchor operates within Fathom Five National Marine Park and follows strict environmental guidelines. The fleet includes modern vessels designed to reduce emissions, and crew members emphasize education, conservation, and respectful wildlife viewing throughout each cruise.
